Up In Them Guts.

So I managed to muster up some funds to pick up some "crucial" records. This here is the new Mark McCoy band called "Failures". This is an amazing record for what it is, Cleaner than his previous project The Oath, but still holds some of the same values in the songs structures. It reminds me of The Oath's first ep era. Still raw and hardcore than the later noisier works. The record packaging is nothing but thought out like most of Youth Attack / Clean Plate releases. Black paper sleeve, with a 7" x 7" black envelope sealed shut (i still haven't opened it yet). With their name screened on the front and center of it. It's an impressive record all around. The first pressing is sold out completely as of now. It actually was out of print before the record's preorders were even shipped out. And I think the second press is going to soon meet the same fate.
This here is the new Off Minor record. If the packaging and artwork alone doesn't intrigue you, well the new material will. The insert and packaging is all designed by Nishat Akhtar which has done work for some major companies such as MTV and I think Cover Girl as well. Well the artwork is very simplistic but so eye capturing and well exitcuted it's hard not to keep looking and examining it. Well rounded record. Off Minor are still doing what they do best, 90's screamo, still speratic. Still Jazzy. Awesome.
And what can I say about this record without giving too much away, one song from each group seem fitting for a traditional "old style" split Ep. This version is the limited Red with Gold splatter edition (out of 100) of this press. This does not come with a cover or packaging of any sort besides the paper sleeve the pressing plant provides upon the birth of the press. Funny delivers Zach. Catchy comes Tom Leo.
